Westminster woman hits second $50K Bonus Match 5 jackpot in one year
BALTIMORE, Md. — A Carroll County woman has claimed her second $50,000 top prize from the Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 game within a year.
The Westminster player first won $50,000 in November 2024. One year later, in November 2025, another Bonus Match 5 ticket delivered a top prize worth $50,015. She waited several months before claiming the latest prize and visited Maryland Lottery headquarters on March 4.
Lottery officials said the excitement remained strong when the two-time winner arrived to claim her prize.
The longtime Maryland Lottery player regularly participates in several games including scratch-offs, Pick 3 and Pick 4, but Bonus Match 5 is the game she plays most frequently.
Her strategy involves allowing the lottery terminal to randomly generate numbers and sometimes replaying number combinations from previous winning tickets.
That approach paid off again in November when she reused numbers from earlier $400-winning tickets.
The Westminster resident discovered the latest win while checking the Maryland Lottery mobile app before heading to work.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Giant grocery store located at 405 North Center Street in Westminster. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket.
The winner is considering using the prize money to purchase a new vehicle or complete a bathroom renovation. She plans to continue working at a local retail store.
