Middle River woman’s lifelong love of numbers earns her $50,000 lottery win

MIDDLE RIVER, MD – A Baltimore County woman who says “numbers are my life” turned her lifelong fascination with digits into a $50,000 payday after winning the top prize in Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 game.

The retired federal employee, who asked to remain anonymous, claimed her prize on December 29 at Maryland Lottery headquarters after discovering that one of her hand-picked combinations matched all five winning numbers from the December 23 drawing.

“I see numbers everywhere,” she said. “Numbers by themselves, series of them — everywhere I look.” She explained that she studies past winning combinations for Bonus Match 5 and similar games in other states, carrying a notepad to record numbers that stand out.

Her hobby finally paid off in a big way. “I said to myself, ‘It finally worked!’” she recalled of the moment she confirmed her win.

The winning ticket was purchased at Compass Beer Pump, located at 3 Compass Road in Middle River. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.
