Middletown Man Receives 7-Year Sentence for Drug Charges

October 3, 2024

Goshen, NY – Wayne Battles, a 44-year-old resident of Middletown, has been sentenced to seven years in prison with an additional three years of post-release supervision. The sentencing took place on Tuesday following his guilty plea in Orange County Court to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

Court documents and statements revealed that in July 2020, Battles conducted multiple transactions with an undercover police officer involving crack cocaine. Later in October 2020, authorities stopped a vehicle he was driving, discovering around 27 grams of cocaine in his possession. During his plea proceedings, Battles admitted to knowingly possessing the cocaine with the intent to sell it.

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler thanked the New York State Police for their efforts leading to Battles’ arrest. He emphasized the dedication of law enforcement to pursue drug dealers and ensure they face justice for their actions. Hoovler issued a warning to those engaging in similar activities within Orange County, highlighting the serious consequences they would face.
