MIDDLETOWN, N.J. — Police in Middletown Township are investigating a series of drone sightings reported by residents, sparking privacy and safety concerns across the community. The sightings, described as occurring at unusual hours and locations, have prompted authorities to ramp up efforts to determine the origin and purpose of the drones.
In a public notice shared on social media, the Middletown Township Police Department stated it is “actively monitoring the situation and gathering as much information as possible.” The department is also working in coordination with other agencies to address the reports.
“We understand your concerns and will share updates as soon as we have more information,” the statement read, while emphasizing that there is no evidence suggesting any immediate danger linked to the drone activity.
Residents are being urged to report suspicious drone sightings by contacting the police department’s non-emergency line and providing specific details such as the location, time, and description of the drones. Police also reminded drone operators in the area to comply with FAA airspace regulations.
