CUMBERLAND, MD – A missing woman was found safe Thursday after an intensive multi-agency investigation led Cumberland Police to her location in the city’s south end, authorities said.

Detectives and patrol officers tracked her down after reviewing surveillance video and following up on community tips.

Police confirmed the woman was unharmed when located.

Community tips lead to breakthrough

According to Cumberland Police, the department worked closely with the Combined County Criminal Investigations Unit (C3I) to investigate the missing person case throughout the week. A tip received Thursday afternoon, combined with video surveillance footage, led officers directly to the woman’s location.

Authorities expressed gratitude to the public and partner agencies whose cooperation helped resolve the case quickly.

Arrest made following multi-day investigation

Following the woman’s recovery, investigators identified a person of interest connected to the case. That individual was later arrested and charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and illegal possession of firearms.

The suspect is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center pending an initial court appearance.

Police said the case remains under investigation and thanked residents whose information helped bring the situation to a safe conclusion.
