Mistaken at first glance Laurel retiree wins 2K not K

LAUREL, MD — A retired nonprofit worker from Prince George’s County is the latest big winner in the Maryland Lottery’s MONOPOLY Second-Chance Promotion, claiming a rolling cash jackpot worth $112,853.

Jocelyn Quinitchette of Laurel was selected from more than 14 million entries in the May 6 drawing. Initially thinking she had won $12,000, she later realized she had actually secured the full six-figure jackpot.

The win was confirmed after a Maryland Lottery official left her a voicemail, prompting her to check the official website. After spotting her name listed as the winner, she realized the actual prize was significantly larger than she expected.

Quinitchette, a frequent My Lottery Rewards participant, said she plans to use the winnings to purchase a new vehicle. She entered the MONOPOLY Second-Chance drawing by submitting eligible non-winning tickets through the Maryland Lottery’s digital rewards platform.

In addition to the top prize winner, five other players in the same drawing each won $5,000.

The MONOPOLY-themed promotion is one of several second-chance programs the Maryland Lottery offers, giving players added opportunities to win cash prizes beyond the initial game.
