Monmouth County Filmmakers Team Up with Music Legends for New Episode of ‘Scrawl’

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County filmmakers Doug Bollinger and Keith Collins have joined forces to create a new episode for their independent series, Scrawl. The duo, renowned for previous works such as The Evangelist and The Samaritans, have enlisted the talent of former Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal. The episode will be filmed at Simply Southern, a popular eatery in Belmar, New Jersey, owned by former NY Giant Rasheed Simmons.

Scrawl follows the journey of an ambitious writer who grapples with the idea of sacrifice for his art. The series has caught the attention of the independent film community and aims to contribute to New Jersey’s growing film and television industry. This specific episode will also feature original music from Garden State legends DJ Unique and DJ Funsize.

The restaurant owned by Simmons will serve as the episode’s backdrop. Bollinger and Collins specifically chose this iconic Jersey Shore location to set the mood for the installment. The team described the venue as “an ideal place for storytelling,” matching the ambiance required for their “creepy story.”

Bollinger and Collins have a history of collaborating with New Jersey artists, having previously worked with the likes of Danny Aiello, Vincent Pastore, and Artie Lange. “We are thrilled to be contributing to the state’s growing independent film and television industry,” said Collins. The collaboration with Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, a veteran musician and now actor, brings a new layer of creativity to their work.

The episode features an ensemble cast including Doug Bollinger, Keith Collins, Gervase Peterson of ‘Survivor,’ Sarah Osman from HBO Max’s ‘Love Life,’ and others. With cinematography by Cory Green, the project promises to be a distinct addition to the series.
