Multiple Mid-Morning Crashes Snarl Traffic Across New Jersey, Including Overturned Tractor-Trailer

Drivers across New Jersey faced major delays Friday morning as multiple crashes shut down highways, blocked ramps, and backed up traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike, Interstate 295, and the Garden State Parkway.

The Friday morning commute turned into a frustrating drive for motorists across New Jersey after several crashes disrupted traffic on three major highways.

Among the most significant incidents was an overturned tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike’s Western Spur in Kearny, while a separate crash investigation forced the closure of all southbound lanes on Interstate 295 in Salem County.

As of 10:08 a.m., an overturned tractor-trailer blocked part of the southbound entrance ramp from Interchange 15W to Interstate 280 on the New Jersey Turnpike’s Western Spur in Kearny.

Traffic officials reported the partial ramp closure was causing delays of approximately one mile as crews responded to the scene.

Motorists traveling through the area were urged to expect delays and consider alternate routes.

A separate crash investigation caused the most significant traffic disruption of the morning.

As of 9:57 a.m., all southbound lanes of Interstate 295 north of Exit 7 in Oldmans Township were closed while authorities investigated the crash.

Officials had not released information on injuries or when the highway would fully reopen.

Further north, another crash slowed traffic on the Garden State Parkway.

Drivers encountered slower-than-normal traffic approaching the exit.
