MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Myrtle Beach Police Department is warning residents to exercise caution as temperatures plunge overnight, raising the likelihood of icy road conditions throughout the area.
Officials noted that lingering water on roadways from recent precipitation is expected to refreeze, creating a potentially hazardous situation for drivers. Bridges and overpasses are particularly vulnerable to freezing, but authorities cautioned that all roads could pose risks.
“To ensure your safety, please stay home if possible,” the department stated in a message shared on social media Tuesday evening. For those who must travel, police advised drivers to reduce speed and avoid sudden braking, sharp turns, or rapid acceleration.
