National Guard fighter squadron to conduct flight training over Atlantic County this weekend

Atlantic City, NJ – The 177th Fighter Squadron, an Air National Guard unit, will be conducting flight training from Thursday through Saturday over the Skies of Atlantic County and Southern New Jersey.

The scheduled training is required every 12 to 18 months to ensure mission readiness in the event of an overseas deployment.

It is designed to evaluate and ensure mission readiness in support of worldwide deployment. Activities will be limited to the confines of the base, according to the New Jersey Department of Veterans Affairs.

“Residents surrounding the Atlantic City International Airport can expect training operations to include night flying, as well as exercise-related sirens/horns and pyrotechnic explosions during the span of the exercise,” the National Guard said today.
