New Jersey Mother Faces Felony Charges After DUI Crash

EWING TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 39-year-old New Jersey mother, Megan Fackler, is facing multiple felony charges following an alleged drunk driving incident on October 5, 2024, in Ewing Township.

Authorities claim Fackler crashed her SUV into a box truck while her three children were in the vehicle.

Ewing Township police responded to the collision and captured the interaction on bodycam footage, later released by Transparency Bodycam on YouTube.

The footage shows Fackler exhibiting slurred speech and confusion about her driving direction. After initially resisting, she performed a field sobriety test, which led to her arrest. A breath test at the police station allegedly revealed a blood alcohol level of .371, over four times New Jersey’s legal limit of .08.

Court documents obtained by Philadelphia-based ABC affiliate WPVI indicate that Fackler’s three children were hospitalized for evaluation after the crash. In the bodycam footage, one child, whose image was blurred, assured officers that everyone was unharmed.

During the encounter, Fackler mentioned working for the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), a claim corroborated by WPVI, which confirmed her ongoing employment with the agency. She also referenced personal challenges, including a divorce and living with her brother. When officers noted empty wine bottles in her SUV, Fackler insisted they were from weeks prior.

Fackler faces charges including driving under the influence, three counts of child endangerment, reckless driving, and additional citations. The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the protection of minors in such situations.
