New Jersey snowstorm brings $1 million Powerball win

Morris County player hits $1 million Powerball prize as jackpot soars past $1.1B

Trenton, NJ – A snowy Saturday night brought more than just wintry weather to New Jersey—one lucky Morris County player walked away $1 million richer after matching all five white balls in the Powerball drawing, missing only the red Power Ball to hit the game’s second-highest prize.

The near-jackpot win was part of a flurry of winnings across the Garden State. Five additional players—located in Cumberland, Camden, Burlington, and Bergen counties, along with one using the Jackpocket app—each scored $50,000 by matching four white balls and the Power Ball.

While no one clinched the massive jackpot, the top prize now stands at $1.1 billion, with a cash value of $503.4 million, making it the sixth-largest in Powerball history. The next drawing is set for Monday.

The winning numbers drawn Saturday were 01, 28, 31, 57, and 58, with the Power Ball number 16 and a multiplier of 2.

Several additional prizes were also claimed in the state’s Double Play drawing. One player won $50,000 by matching four white balls and the Double Play ball. Seven more players each won $500 by matching four white balls, while 37 others claimed $500 each for matching three white balls and the Double Play ball.

Saturday’s activity adds to a growing list of big winners in New Jersey since the current jackpot run began following the $1.8 billion split between Missouri and Texas players on September 6. Since then, 40 New Jersey players have claimed prizes of $50,000 or more, including five $1 million winners, one $2 million winner, and three $100,000 winners.

Powerball, one of the nation’s most popular lottery games, has now seen six jackpots surpass the billion-dollar mark. The current prize is inching toward the record $2.04 billion jackpot hit in California in November 2022.
