LAKEWOOD, NJ – A busy intersection near the border of Lakewood and Toms River that was upgraded by the county recently to include sidewalks, a crosswalk, and a traffic light is going live.

The newly installed traffic light at the intersection is now live, according to Lakewood Police Department Captain Gregory Staffordsmith.

“Please be aware that the newly installed traffic control device at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Locust Street is now functional. As always, please be alert when driving,” Staffordsmith said.

The intersection is an area that has seen rapid growth over the years, including townhomes and businesses. It is also the northwest corner of the Harrogate retirement community.
