New York Mom Calls for Justice After Daughter Violently Attacked on School Bus

May 13, 2024

South Glens Falls, NY – A violent incident on a school bus has left a mother outraged and demanding justice after her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend were assaulted by another student. The attack occurred on May 10 at 2:40 PM near South Glens Falls Senior High School.

Britney Shaffer shared the details of the assault, stating that her 15-year-old daughter and her boyfriend were attacked by another female student, who is also the daughter’s cousin. The altercation began when the cousin became angry over another student’s feet in the aisle. The enraged cousin used a 32-ounce Stanley cup to hit the boyfriend in the head, and when Shaffer’s daughter confronted her, the cousin struck her in the face, resulting in severe injuries.

The attacker, who is 16, fled the scene immediately after the assault, which occurred at her bus stop. Shaffer expressed her frustration with the school district’s handling of the incident, stating that her daughter has faced multiple physical altercations over the past three years without adequate resolution from the school or police.

Shaffer’s daughter suffered a broken nose and required surgery to reattach part of her nostril. Despite involving the police, Shaffer feels the response has been inadequate. She has called for increased security measures, including metal detectors and bus monitors, to prevent future incidents.

The family is also seeking legal assistance to pursue justice. Shaffer urged the community to support her efforts in ensuring that her daughter’s attacker faces consequences and that the school district takes the necessary steps to protect students from violence.

Updates on the daughter’s condition and the ongoing legal and police actions will be shared by Shaffer as the family navigates this challenging situation.
