Christie Still Polling at 3% Despite Anti-Trump Campaign Platform

November 4, 2023

MORRISTOWN, NJ – The ‘I hate Donald Trump’schtick isn’t helping former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, according to a new national poll for the Republican nomination for President in 2024.

Not only is Christie’s one-track record getting old, but even though it’s getting plenty of airtime on CNN and MSNBC, it’s not moving the needle, even a hair.

Chris Christie remains at 3% in GOP polls as Trump’s lead expands amid national and global unrest.

A new Quinnipiac University national poll shows that despite a tumultuous month featuring international conflicts, a mass shooting, and a former president facing a civil fraud trial, there has been little shift in the political landscape for the upcoming presidential primaries. In the Republican field, former President Donald Trump leads 64 percent among GOP and GOP-leaning voters. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis trails with 15 percent, while former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley has garnered 8 percent. South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy each hold 3 percent. The remaining candidates are at 1 percent or less.

Among Republicans and leaners firm in their primary choice, 46 percent are steadfast in their candidate selection, while 52 percent remain open to changing their preference as the primary approaches.

For the Democrats, President Joe Biden commands 77 percent support from Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters. Marianne Williamson holds 8 percent, with U.S. Representative Dean Phillips at 6 percent, and political commentator Cenk Uygur at 2 percent.

With Democratic and leaning voters, 34 percent express a firm commitment to their chosen candidate, while 63 percent indicate a willingness to reconsider their choice as the Democratic primary nears.
