WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — New York State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle connected to the shooting of a state trooper late on Wednesday night on the Southern State Parkway in Nassau County. The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. on October 30 in the westbound lanes near Exit 17 in West Hempstead.

The suspect, described as a dark-skinned male, fled the scene in a black sedan, believed to be a Dodge Charger with a New Jersey temporary license plate of 997636T. Police said the vehicle has distinctive custom features, including matte gray dual exhaust tips, which may help with identification.

The injured trooper was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition. The investigation remains active, with authorities working to locate the suspect and gather additional information.
