Newark Authorities Seek Information on Assault Suspects

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Public Safety Department is calling on the community for assistance in identifying two suspects involved in a recent assault over a parking space dispute. The altercation occurred on February 19, 2024, around 11:40 p.m., in the 70 block of Garrison Street.

The incident began when one of the suspects took a parking space, leading to an aggressive confrontation with the victim. As the victim exited his vehicle, he was assaulted by the suspects, resulting in a punch to the eye. Efforts to defend himself and protect his vehicle were unsuccessful.

Newark Authorities Seek Information on Assault Suspects

The first suspect is described as a male with a fair complexion and thin build, dressed in a dark-colored long-sleeve shirt, black pants, and white sneakers. The second suspect is also a male with a fair complexion and thin build, wearing a red hooded shirt, rip-style blue jeans, and black/red sneakers.

Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is urging anyone with information on the identity of these individuals to come forward and contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). The department guarantees confidentiality for all tips received and emphasizes the importance of community involvement in ensuring public safety and bringing perpetrators to justice.
