NEWARK, NJ – Newark’s Department of Public Safety is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect involved in a residential burglary on May 1. The suspect was captured on surveillance footage entering a home in the 200 block of Grafton Avenue around 5:35 a.m., according to Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr.
Authorities say the suspect entered the residence through a basement window and stole multiple items, including tools, a speaker, a Ring camera, a ladder, and ceiling lights. The individual was seen wearing a gray and black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans, and white sneakers.
The incident remains under investigation by the Newark Police Division. No injuries were reported, and officials have not released the estimated value of the stolen property.
Director Miranda is urging anyone with information about the burglary or the suspect’s identity to contact the department’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
