Newark Porch Pirate Sought by Police

NEWARK, N.J. — Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who stole a package from a porch on North 7th Street last week.

The theft occurred around 12:41 p.m. on May 23, when a man was recorded on surveillance video removing a recently delivered package from a residence in the 600 block. Authorities described the suspect as a light-skinned male wearing a blue jacket over a black sweater, dark jeans, and black and white sneakers.

The Newark Department of Public Safety shared images of the suspect and urged residents to come forward with any information that could lead to an identification.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips are confidential and may be eligible for a reward.

Authorities are continuing to investigate and review footage in connection with the case.
