NEWARK, NJ – Police are searching for a suspect caught on surveillance video stealing all four tires from a parked vehicle and leaving it propped on crates in a Newark neighborhood in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The theft happened around 3:20 a.m. on December 2 in the 100 block of Emmet Street. According to officials, the suspect pulled up in a gray Honda Civic, parked behind the victim’s Honda, and proceeded to remove all four tires. When police responded to reports of suspicious activity, they found the car sitting on crates where the tires had been.

The suspect, whose image was captured on security cameras, was wearing a white hoodie, blue jeans, and blue-and-white sneakers during the incident. Investigators believe he acted alone and completed the theft quickly before fleeing the scene in his own vehicle.

Newark’s Department of Public Safety is asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect. Officials say all tips will be kept confidential and may be eligible for a reward.

Residents in the area are encouraged to remain alert and report suspicious behavior, especially during overnight hours when tire thefts tend to spike. The incident remains under investigation.
