North Carolina Woman Sues Verizon Wireless Over Alleged Stalker Incident

RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina woman has filed a lawsuit against Verizon Wireless, claiming the company disclosed her cellphone number and home address to a man she alleges was stalking her. The lawsuit, filed in federal court, states that the man, identified as Robert Glauner, later appeared at her home carrying a razor blade and rope.

The plaintiff, who is referred to in court documents as “M.D.,” alleges that she met Glauner online in August 2023 on an adult video website, xhamster.com, where she used an alias and initially shared her cellphone number with him. According to the complaint, their communication was brief, but M.D. decided to cut off contact when she became uncomfortable with Glauner’s behavior.

Despite blocking Glauner on her devices, M.D. claims he continued to contact her using different phone numbers. When she reported the harassment to the police, they advised her to change her number, which she did. However, according to her attorney, Amanda Dure, M.D. only experienced “10 days of peace” before the harassment resumed.

The lawsuit alleges that Verizon Wireless provided Glauner with M.D.’s new cellphone number and home address, leading to the dangerous encounter at her residence. M.D. is seeking damages for the emotional distress and the potential harm she faced as a result of the incident.

Verizon Wireless has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
