MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced the arraignment of 58-year-old Steven Frigand of North Massapequa.
Frigand faces multiple charges, including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and numerous counts of Weapon Possession. On August 20, Frigand allegedly fired multiple shots from his basement apartment at 2 Sussex Avenue, North Massapequa.
The gunfire struck neighboring houses, narrowly missing a sleeping child and a homeowner. When Nassau County Police Department officers arrived, Frigand reportedly refused to exit the basement for over an hour. Upon his eventual surrender, he was taken to Nassau University Medical Center.
A subsequent search warrant executed on the property uncovered 18 firearms, including assault rifles, shotguns, and a revolver, 40 high-capacity magazines, ammunition, and over 27 ounces of cocaine.
Frigand, who pleaded not guilty, is held on a $2 million cash, $4 million bond, and $20 million partially secured bond. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
