Police say an unidentified man allegedly sat beside child on B62 bus before committing lewd act and fleeing in Brooklyn
BROOKLYN, NY — New York City police are searching for a suspect accused of a disturbing incident aboard a public bus in Downtown Brooklyn after authorities say an 11-year-old girl was targeted during a morning commute and the individual fled the scene moments later.
According to NYPD Crimestoppers, the incident happened Monday, June 1, 2026, at approximately 8:18 a.m. near Livingston Street and Smith Street within the 84th Precinct.
Investigators said the victim, an 11-year-old female, was seated on a B62 bus when an unidentified male sat next to her and allegedly began performing a lewd act.
Police said the suspect then exited the bus and fled in an unknown direction.
Authorities have not released a description of the suspect at this time and said the investigation is ongoing as detectives review available evidence, including potential surveillance footage and witness accounts from the bus and surrounding area.
