Lopez, a white male, currently stationed at the 1st Precinct since July 2009, previously served at the Midtown South Precinct. His service began in January 2008, and he earned an annual salary of $144,000 last year.
In addition to his recent arrest, Lopez has faced multiple substantiated allegations over the years. These include abuse of authority and discourtesy, with specific charges related to frisking, sexual misconduct, and the use of offensive language. Notably, Lopez has a history of discipline cases and substantiated charges from complaints dating back to 2009.
One of the most significant cases involves complaint #202103330 from May 2021, where Lopez was substantiated for abuse of authority involving sexual misconduct and harassment against a female complainant. Despite these charges, the NYPD concluded the case without discipline in April 2023.
