NYPD Officer Attacked While Making Arrest in Manhattan

An NYPD officer was assaulted early Tuesday morning during an attempted apprehension at the intersection of Second Avenue and East 60 Street. The incident occurred at approximately 12:50 AM when two on-duty officers tried to arrest a suspect wanted for a previous crime.

During the encounter, the suspect attacked one of the officers, punching him multiple times in the face, resulting in swelling and pain, as well as a sprained shoulder. The injured officer was subsequently transported to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.

The assailant, described as a male with a dark complexion, about 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slim build, managed to escape on foot. He was last seen wearing an army fatigue-colored hooded sweatshirt, an army fatigue baseball cap, and blue gloves. The police are currently seeking this individual and have asked for the public’s help in locating him.
