Toms River woman charged with false swearing in Bayonne death investigation

BAYONNE, N.J. — A Toms River woman has been charged with providing false statements during an investigation into the deaths of two men at a Bayonne pool in 2022, prosecutors said.

Ashley Danback, 37, of Toms River, was arrested March 13 by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit.

Danback is charged with one count of false swearing, a fourth-degree crime under New Jersey law.

Authorities said the charge stems from statements she made during the investigation into the deaths of two males at a Bayonne pool on June 9, 2022.

Prosecutors said the statements were made after the investigation had begun and did not contribute to the deaths of the two men.

Danback was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and later released on a summons pending her first court appearance.

The charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
