CANTON, Ohio — A Stark County judge sentenced Sean Goe, 27, to the maximum penalty of 29 years to life in prison for the gruesome murder of his 24-year-old girlfriend, Raychel Sheridan, whose body he wrapped in plastic and dumped in a park trash can.

Stark County Common Pleas Court Judge Frank Forchione handed down the sentence Monday, following Goe’s conviction on multiple charges, including murder, felonious assault, gross abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. Goe was also found guilty of burglary and grand theft of a firearm, court records show.

The jury found that Goe had bludgeoned Sheridan to death with a hammer before concealing her body and disposing of it in a local park named after a beloved fictional storyteller. Investigators discovered her remains wrapped in plastic and hidden in a trash can.

Sheridan’s family was present at the sentencing and spoke about the devastating impact of the crime. Judge Forchione emphasized the severity of Goe’s actions, describing them as “inhumane” during the proceedings.

Goe’s sentence reflects the court’s determination to impose the harshest penalty allowable under Ohio law for the horrific killing.

Sean Goe will spend decades in prison after being convicted of a murder that shocked Stark County with its brutality.
