Ohio Police Offer Cash Reward for Suspect in Mass Shooting that Killed One, Left 24 Injured

AKRON, OH—Just after midnight on Sunday, the Akron Police Department received several 911 calls about gunshots being fired around Kelly Ave. and 8th Ave. The callers reported multiple gunshot victims. Officers were dispatched immediately to the scene. Following these initial reports, local hospitals alerted the dispatch center that multiple individuals had arrived at emergency departments with gunshot wounds, totaling 25 victims, including one confirmed fatality.

The Akron Police Department stated that the investigation is currently in its preliminary stages, and further details will be disclosed as they become available. Currently, there is no additional information on the suspects or other victims.

Mayor Malik and Police Chief Brian Harding responded to the tragedy with a joint statement. They expressed their devastation over the violent incident that resulted in significant casualties and trauma throughout Akron.

Additionally, the U.S. Marshal’s Office has pledged up to $7,500, bringing the total potential reward to $12,500.
