Ohio Woman Accused of Firing Gun, Setting Curtains Ablaze ‘To Prove a Point’

Deputies say an Ohio woman admitted she fired a gun inside a home and set curtains on fire after drinking during a daylong argument.

Wayne Township, OH – An Ohio woman is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say she fired a gun inside a home and intentionally set curtains on fire during a domestic dispute, allegedly telling investigators she did it “to prove a point.”

Crystal Foster, 47, was charged with first-degree aggravated arson, two counts of aggravated menacing, and using weapons while intoxicated, according to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office. She is being held in the Clermont County Jail without bond.

Deputies respond to reported gunfire

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 4:15 p.m. Monday to a home in the 5900 block of Newtonsville Road in Wayne Township after a 911 caller reported Foster had fired a gun inside the residence following an argument that had continued throughout the day.

When deputies arrived about 15 minutes later, they discovered curtains inside the home had been set on fire. The flames had already been extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

Investigators said witnesses told deputies Foster intentionally ignited the curtains and declared she was “going to burn this place down.” Witnesses also reported hearing a loud “pop” from a bedroom, which authorities believe was the sound of the firearm being discharged.

Suspect allegedly admitted drinking

According to investigators, Foster admitted she had been drinking throughout the day before firing the weapon.

She allegedly told deputies she shot the gun “to prove a point” and later said she fired it “to show them she was serious and to make a point.” Authorities said Foster also stated she did not know why she set the curtains on fire.

The sheriff’s office has not identified the other people who were inside the residence or described their relationship to Foster.

Foster is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
