Gunfire erupted after a ShotSpotter alert on North Payson Street, leaving three people shot and triggering a homicide investigation
BALTIMORE, Md. — A late-night shooting in West Baltimore left one man dead and two other people injured after officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.
The shooting occurred Wednesday at approximately 10:12 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Payson Street, according to the Baltimore Police Department.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 20-year-old woman and two 22-year-old men with apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel transported all three victims to area hospitals. One of the 22-year-old men was later pronounced dead, police said.
The 20-year-old woman was reported to be in stable condition, while the second 22-year-old man remained in critical condition as of Wednesday night.
Police have not released the identities of the victims, and no information about a suspect or possible motive was immediately available.
The case is being investigated by homicide detectives, who are seeking information from the public regarding the shooting.
