One dead, one injured in Dover shooting outside McGlynn’s restaurant

A 22-year-old man was killed and another injured in a targeted shooting outside a Dover restaurant.

A 22-year-old man is dead and another is hospitalized following a shooting early Sunday morning outside McGlynn’s in Dover, according to the Dover Police Department.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:11 a.m. in the parking lot of the restaurant, located at 800 North State Street. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found two male victims, ages 22 and 21, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

The victims were transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for emergency treatment. The 22-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The 21-year-old remains hospitalized. His current condition has not been publicly released.

Suspect remains at large in fatal shooting

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were part of a large group gathered outside the establishment when an unknown suspect or suspects opened fire. No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made as of Sunday morning.

“There are no leads to release at this time,” Dover Police said in a statement issued by Public Information Officer Master Corporal Ryan Schmid.

Authorities have not disclosed how many shots were fired or whether any surveillance footage is being reviewed. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

The investigation remains active as detectives continue to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses.
