ALLENTOWN, PA. – One person was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting early Friday morning in Allentown following what police say was a fight that turned violent.

According to the Allentown Police Department, officers responded to 1302 Hanover Avenue around 1:30 a.m. after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided first aid before both victims were transported to a nearby hospital. One of them later died from his injuries, while the other is expected to survive.

A short time later, police said a third victim connected to the same incident arrived at a different hospital and is being treated for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators believe a physical altercation preceded the shooting. The Allentown Police Department, in coordination with the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, and the county coroner, is continuing to investigate. Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
