A Harford County woman says a feeling to play Racetrax paid off with a five-figure prize.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A Harford County woman turned a hunch into a $56,435 Maryland Lottery win after playing Racetrax with the bonus option.
The stay-at-home mother, who used the alias “Racetrax Mom,” claimed her prize Tuesday at Maryland Lottery headquarters alongside her husband.
The winner said she is a casual Racetrax player and decided to place a $1 Superfecta wager with the multiplier bonus option on July 8 using the numbers 4, 6, 9 and 11. Her ticket covered 10 races for a total cost of $48.
“Let me try it. I just had a hunch,” she said.
The following day, she scanned her ticket on her phone and discovered she had won. Because she added the bonus option, her prize was multiplied to $56,435.
“I almost fell over. I couldn’t believe it,” she said.
The winner said she has not decided how she will spend the money, although her husband is encouraging her to buy a minivan.
The winning ticket was purchased at Mimi’s Liquor Station, located at 12010 Rousby Hall Road in Lusby. The Calvert County retailer will receive a $564.35 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
