Over 100,000 Doses of Narcan Distributed in New Jersey Over Past Year and Half

July 23, 2024

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey has distributed over 100,000 doses of naloxone in the past year and a half, according to the New Jersey State Police. This initiative is credited with contributing to a decrease in suspected fatal overdoses statewide.

Since January 2023, the distribution of naloxone, also known as Narcan, has provided significant aid in combating the opioid crisis. Each dose represents a potential life saved.

The state has emphasized that those struggling with substance abuse disorders are not alone. Support systems are in place, with law enforcement and recovery advocates available to assist.

Residents in need of help can contact Operation RISE by calling 1-833-NJRISES (1-833-657-4737) or by emailing NJRISE@njsp.gov. The program offers guidance and direct assistance to those facing challenges related to substance abuse.

This distribution effort and the support services offered underscore New Jersey’s commitment to reducing drug-related fatalities and supporting community recovery initiatives.
