PATERSON, NJ – A potentially dangerous situation was peacefully resolved in Paterson thanks to the quick and compassionate response of local police officers and a clergy member.
Recently, Paterson Police Officers Ikmet Shej and Nigel Burgess encountered an emotionally disturbed individual holding a brick. Displaying calm and professionalism, the officers engaged in dialogue with the person, successfully de-escalating the situation without any harm.
Pastor Michael D. McDuffie, President of the Paterson Police Department Interfaith Clergy Council, played a crucial role in the resolution.
His involvement and communication with the individual were instrumental in the peaceful outcome.
