Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Prince Frederick

September 13, 2024

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday evening in Prince Frederick after being hit by a vehicle on Solomons Island Road, according to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred around 8:04 p.m. on September 12, 2024. A 2017 Hyundai Accent, driven by 23-year-old Asaun Jaziah Hudson of St. Leonard, was traveling northbound on Solomons Island Road near Church Street when it struck an unidentified man walking eastbound across Route 4.

The pedestrian, described as a black male approximately 30 to 35 years old, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Calvert Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet identified the victim.

Hudson was uninjured in the crash, and initial investigations suggest that speed was not a factor. However, alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor on the part of the pedestrian.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is working to gather more information.
