Pedestrian left seriously injured after late-night crash on busy NJ highway

LINDEN, N.J. — A man was seriously hurt after being struck while trying to cross a major highway late at night, prompting an active investigation.

The crash happened around 11:42 p.m. on March 13 along US 1 & 9 northbound near Woodlawn Avenue.

A 53-year-old Linden man was attempting to cross the roadway when he was hit by a white Kia Rio.

He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to University Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

The driver, a 46-year-old woman from Elizabeth, was not injured and stayed at the scene.

Authorities are now asking for witnesses or anyone with information about what led up to the crash to come forward.
