Pentagon deploying Stryker Brigade Combat Team to southern border

WASHINGTON – The Department of Defense has ordered the deployment of a Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) and a General Support Aviation Battalion to the U.S.-Mexico border, following a directive from President Donald Trump.

A senior defense official confirmed the deployment Saturday, stating it is intended to “reinforce and expand current border security operations to seal the border and protect the territorial integrity of the United States.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth authorized the move as part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen border enforcement. The forces are expected to arrive in the coming weeks and will operate alongside the Department of Homeland Security.

The Pentagon said the deployment reflects its “unwavering dedication” to border security under Trump’s leadership, but did not specify the exact number of personnel involved.

The military is set to play a greater role in border enforcement as the Trump administration escalates efforts to curb illegal immigration.
