Perth Amboy Park Shooter Evades Police, Manhunt Underway

Perth Amboy, NJ – A shooting near Bayview Park on Wednesday evening left one person hospitalized and triggered an active investigation in a busy Perth Amboy waterfront area, according to city police.

The Perth Amboy Police Department responded around 6:41 p.m. to reports of gunfire near Water Street and Bayview Park. Officers arriving at the scene found one injured victim, who was transported for medical treatment and later listed in stable condition.

Police said officers immediately secured the area after the shooting and continued gathering evidence Thursday as detectives worked to determine what led to the violence.

Police Say No Ongoing Threat to Public

Investigators have not released the victim’s identity, the severity of the injuries, or information about a possible suspect. Authorities also have not said whether the shooting stemmed from a targeted confrontation or another dispute.

In a public safety update, the Perth Amboy Police Department said preliminary information indicates there is no ongoing threat to residents or visitors in the area.
