TOMS RIVER, NJ – Facing mounting pressure over his inconsistent behavior and actions, Governor Phil Murphy today lifted his stay-at-home order. The move comes after Murphy faced scrutiny over his decision to violate his own stay-at-home order and executive orders to participate in public protests this weekend. The stay-at-home order has been effective since March 16th.
Just 5 days ago the governor extended his stay at home order. “The renewal of the declaration of the ongoing Public Health Emergency is necessary to allow the State to continue with the plan to allow for the methodical and strategic reopening of the State,” Murphy said on June 4th.
Effective immediately, indoor gatherings will also be permitted at whichever number is lower, 25% of the building’s capacity or 50 people. This allows religious services to go back indoors as of today. Outdoor gatherings will increase from 25 to 100 people.
