Philadelphia EMS crash strikes and kills pedestrian late Thursday in Kensington

Philadelphia medic unit fatally strikes pedestrian in overnight crash

Philadelphia, PA – A Philadelphia Fire Department medic unit struck and killed a pedestrian late Thursday night in Kensington, prompting an investigation by police crash specialists.

The collision occurred at approximately 11:52 p.m. on the 3100 block of F Street in the city’s 24th District. According to investigators, the medic vehicle had been traveling eastbound on the 600 block of East Allegheny Avenue before making a right turn onto F Street, where it hit the pedestrian.

Medic personnel immediately called for additional support while providing emergency care. A second medic unit arrived and pronounced the victim dead at 12:01 a.m. Friday. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The Crash Investigation Division is leading the ongoing inquiry into the circumstances of the fatal incident.
