Philadelphia Man Arrested for Abducting and Assaulting Greensburg Teen

Greensburg, PA — Authorities have apprehended a 19-year-old man from Philadelphia accused of abducting, trafficking, and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl from Greensburg. The arrest followed a coordinated effort by multiple law enforcement agencies across Pennsylvania, ensuring the safe return of the young victim to her family.

The suspect, identified as Angel Lopez, faces a slew of serious charges, including kidnapping a minor, human trafficking, statutory sexual assault, and corruption of minors, among others. The investigation involved the Greensburg City Police, the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit.

Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli expressed relief at the girl’s safe return, emphasizing the broader implications of the case.

“This is a stark reminder to parents and children everywhere that dangers like these can strike even in a place like Greensburg,” she said.

The ordeal began on March 14 when Greensburg Police received a report of a missing 13-year-old. Investigators discovered that Lopez allegedly convinced the girl to leave home, instructing her to write a note claiming she was running away and urging her family not to search for her. Using the girl’s cellphone data, police traced her location to an area near Ogontz Street in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia authorities quickly located the teen and brought her to a local precinct, where she was reunited with a family member. The investigation revealed that Lopez had connected with the victim just four days earlier via TikTok. He allegedly arranged and paid for an Uber to transport her from Greensburg to his Philadelphia apartment. GPS data obtained from Uber confirmed the journey, pinpointing the drop-off near Lopez’s residence.

According to authorities, upon arrival, Lopez instructed the girl to turn off her phone, offered her drugs, and assaulted her. Afterward, he reportedly told her to shower to remove any evidence. The victim managed to flee when she heard someone in the hallway, seizing the opportunity to escape.

Digital forensic experts from the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office recovered extensive evidence from the victim’s devices, including a flood of messages and explicit videos exchanged between her and Lopez. This morning, a search warrant was executed at Lopez’s apartment, where he was arrested by the Child Predator Unit under Attorney General Dave Sunday’s leadership.
