Philadelphia man arrested over year after fatal shooting of 21-year-old on Glenloch Street

PHILADELPHIA, PA — More than a year after a deadly shooting in the city’s 15th District, Philadelphia police have arrested a suspect in connection with the January 2024 killing of 21-year-old Shaquawn McNeil.

Authorities said Corey Vixama, of the 5000 block of Glenloch Street, was taken into custody Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He has been charged with murder and related offenses following a lengthy investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit.

The shooting occurred on Monday, January 8, 2024, around 12:48 a.m., when officers responded to a report of a person with a gun at a residence on Glenloch Street. Upon arrival, officers found McNeil suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

McNeil was transported by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:13 a.m.


Arrest follows over a year of investigation

Investigators identified Vixama as a suspect during the course of their investigation, which ultimately led to the issuance of an arrest warrant. Authorities have not released further details about the motive or circumstances leading up to the shooting.
