Philadelphia Police Cap Busy Night with Barricaded Suspect

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Police Department is actively investigating a series of serious incidents that occurred across the city Wednesday, including a deadly shooting, a developing barricade situation, and a critical hit-and-run crash.

In the 15th District, officers responded at approximately 7:07 a.m. to a shooting at a 7-Eleven on the 6900 block of Torresdale Avenue. An adult male suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics at 7:15 a.m. No arrests have been announced, and the victim’s identity has not been released.

Shortly after the shooting, at approximately 7:44 a.m., police were called to the 7000 block of Tulip Street for a male possibly connected to the earlier homicide. A staging area has been set up at 6900 Keystone Street as officers continue their response. Further details have not been disclosed.

At 10 am, police said the man was taken into custody.

Hit-and-run crash leaves pedestrian critically injured

In a separate incident in the 25th District, police responded to a hit-and-run crash around 1:00 a.m. near 100 W. Lehigh Avenue. A 26-year-old man was struck by a westbound gold-colored SUV that fled the scene. The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital and is listed in critical condition. The Crash Investigation Division is leading that investigation.

All three incidents remain under investigation, and authorities say updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
