Philadelphia Police Investigating Overnight Fatal Shooting, Domestic Gun Violence Incident

One man was killed in South Philadelphia while a woman and a teenage boy were wounded in separate shootings across the city early Saturday morning.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia police are investigating a series of overnight shootings that left one man dead and two others injured in separate incidents across the city early Saturday.

The fatal shooting occurred in South Philadelphia, while investigators are also probing a domestic-related shooting in Germantown and a separate case involving a teenage gunshot victim who arrived at a hospital by private vehicle.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., officers from the 1st District responded to the 1900 block of Durfor Street for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police found an unidentified male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers transported the victim to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead approximately 15 minutes later.

Homicide investigation underway

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

Investigators said the motive remains unknown as members of the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Woman shot during domestic dispute

Earlier, at approximately 1:18 a.m., officers from the 14th District responded to a report of a shooting on the 800 block of East Chelten Avenue in the Germantown section of the city.

Investigators located a large amount of blood and a bullet fragment at the scene before learning that the victim, a 40-year-old woman, had already been transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center by a private vehicle.

Preliminary information indicates the woman’s 30-year-old boyfriend shot her in the foot during a verbal altercation. The investigation remains ongoing.

Teen wounded in Mayfair shooting

In a separate incident, officers from the 8th District were dispatched to Nazareth Hospital at approximately 12:34 a.m. after a 16-year-old boy arrived seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.

Police said the teenager suffered one gunshot wound to each lower leg and was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.

The victim told investigators he was inside a vehicle at an unknown location in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia when the shooting occurred, but provided few additional details.

Authorities have not located a crime scene, and no arrests have been made. The motive remains under investigation by the department’s Shooting Investigation Group.
