Philadelphia Police Seek Suspect in Armed Robbery at Holy Cross Church

August 29, 2024

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Police Department’s Northwest Detective Division is searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery at Holy Cross Church in the Mount Airy neighborhood last Friday.

The incident occurred on August 23 at approximately 11:45 a.m. The complainant, a churchgoer, reported that she was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown male as she exited the church, located at 154 E. Mount Airy Avenue. According to the victim, the suspect, who had previously broken into the church, confronted her and stole her belongings at gunpoint before fleeing the scene.

Investigators have determined that the offender also burglarized the church prior to the robbery and broke into multiple vehicles parked outside the church. Footage from a vehicle dashboard camera captured the suspect’s image as he committed the break-ins.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, with a dark brown complexion, mustache, and goatee. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and a white baseball cap featuring a rainbow-colored emblem with the phrase “All hustle, no luck.” The suspect was armed with a silver handgun.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to contact the Northwest Detective Division.

“This individual is considered armed and dangerous, and we are actively seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and apprehending him,” the Philadelphia Police Department said in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have increased patrols in the area in response to the incident.
