Philadelphia Police Seek Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run in 39th District

PHILADELPHIA — Authorities are searching for a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run that took place in the early hours of August 5, 2024, in the 39th District. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver responsible for the death of an unidentified female pedestrian.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:11 a.m. in the 2000 block of W. Hunting Park Avenue. According to investigators, the suspect’s vehicle, referred to as Unit #1, was traveling eastbound on Hunting Park Avenue when it struck the pedestrian and fled the scene without stopping.

The pedestrian, found unconscious on the east side of the road, sustained severe head trauma and abdominal injuries. She was transported by emergency personnel to Temple University Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

Philadelphia police have released video footage of the suspect and the vehicle involved prior to the crash. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect to contact the police.

The investigation remains ongoing.
