Philadelphia police seek suspect in Market Street firearm theft

January 2, 2025

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Authorities are searching for a suspect who stole a firearm along with other belongings from a 27-year-old man on Market Street earlier this month, the Philadelphia Police Department said.

The theft occurred on December 14, 2024, at approximately 6:19 p.m., when the victim placed a black Adidas duffle bag containing personal items, including a Taurus Compact G2C 9mm firearm and an extra magazine, inside a room in a building on the 900 block of Market Street.

When the victim returned to retrieve his bag at around 8:00 p.m., it was missing. Surveillance footage from the area captured an unidentified white male entering and exiting the building with the victim’s bag.

The suspect is described as an unhoused male who is known to frequent the Market Street area, police said. The stolen firearm has the serial number 1C110695.

Central Detective Division investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual seen in surveillance photos. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact authorities.
