Philadelphia Police Seeking Suspects for Multiple Carjackings

August 28, 2024

Philadelphia Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a series of armed carjackings that occurred between August 16 and August 22, 2024, in the 22nd and 25th Police Districts.

The Central Detective Division and the Major Crimes Carjacking Task Force are investigating these incidents, which involve two suspects who have repeatedly targeted victims at gunpoint.

The first incident took place on August 16, 2024, around 9:50 p.m., when the victim was sitting outside his vehicle on the 1000 block of Girard Avenue. Two offenders approached on foot, brandishing a handgun, and forcibly took the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the scene.

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., another victim was targeted while sitting in his parked vehicle on the 1300 block of W. Cumberland Street. The suspects, armed with a handgun, approached the vehicle on foot and stole it. Prior to this, surveillance cameras captured the suspects walking north from Broad and Cecil B. Moore towards Cumberland Street.

A third incident occurred on August 21, 2024, at around 4:45 a.m., on the 1300 block of W. Ontario Street. The victim was sitting in his parked vehicle when the suspects approached, with one knocking on the window using a handgun. The suspects had just been involved in an auto accident at Broad and Allegheny Avenue in the vehicle stolen during the second incident. They then walked two blocks north and robbed this victim.

The final incident took place on August 22, 2024, at approximately 5:55 a.m., on the 2000 block of W. Girard Avenue. A 74-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle when the suspects, walking west on Girard Avenue, pushed her to the ground and stole her keys and wallet. One of the suspects was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

The suspects are described as two Black males, with one appearing to be about 17 years old, 5’08” tall, and of thin build, while the other appears to be between 10 to 12 years old, standing between 4’8″ and 5’0″ tall with puffy hair.

The Philadelphia Police Department urges anyone with information regarding these incidents or the suspects involved to contact the Central Detective Division at (215) 686-3093 or submit anonymous tips to the Crime Stoppers tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
