Philadelphia man charged with attempted murder after wife shot in face during domestic incident
PHILADELPHIA, PA — A 75-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after his wife was found shot in the face and head during a domestic-related incident late Sunday night in the Oxford Circle section of Philadelphia, prosecutors announced.
Fredrick Arnold was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder, multiple counts of aggravated assault, and other related offenses stemming from the November 9 shooting. Officers responded around 11:00 p.m. to a report of a female shot and a person with a gun on the 1500 block of Hale Street.
When police arrived, Arnold opened the door with a firearm in his hand and was immediately detained. Inside the residence, officers found his wife suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her face and head. She was rushed to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition.
The case has been specially assigned to Assistant District Attorney Allison Christian of the Family Violence & Sexual Assault Unit. Prosecutors sought $2 million cash bail, but the court set bail at $1.5 million. A Stay-Away Order has also been issued. Arnold’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 21 in courtroom 306 at the Juanita Kidd Stout Center for Criminal Justice.
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office said victim support services are being coordinated in partnership with Women Against Abuse to assist the victim and her family as the legal process moves forward.
Arnold has also been charged with a firearms violation under Pennsylvania’s Uniform Firearms Act and misdemeanor terroristic threats.
